God instructed Moses to tell Pharaoh to “Let My people go.”  Pharaoh responded by making life harder for the Israelite slaves – forcing them to gather their own straw, without reducing the daily quota of bricks they must produce.  The people quickly turned on Moses, telling him, “Let the LORD look on you and judge, because you have made us abhorrent in the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us” (Exodus 5:21).

Every four years, we hear that this presidential election is the most important election in our lifetimes.  Apparently, the importance of elections is like inflation.  The longer we live, the more it increases.  Those who advocate for a third-party candidate receive the indignation of the apocalyptic voters.  They are told that they are only making things worse for everyone.  We will not have a country left in four more years of Democratic control (take your pick of Democrat stooge at the top of the ticket).  Such folk would quickly shepherd the Israelite faithful to back the more moderate candidate who promises “leeks and onions in every pot,” and never speaks of this controversial “freedom” nonsense.  They will add many impassioned arguments that this fellow Moses will never win.  They are people that have no long-term vision and end up surprisingly content with the status quo even after 400-plus years of slavery.
